Meet Renee
Renee Burchard is the Senior Executive Assistant to General Stan McChrystal. Her role is to support General McChrystal as he leads the organization and his own brand and then works to create bridges between the two. I am always looking at ways to help him in his effort to spend his time on the highest ROI.
What did you do before joining McChrystal Group?
I was David Gergen's Business Manager and Chief of Staff for 24 years. We created Gergen, Inc., which incorporated his work in giving speeches, writing several books, commentating, writing editorials, serving on boards, and being a thought leader, mentor, and coach. My role was supporting all of this work through communication, calendar management, logistics, personnel, and finances.
Why did you join McChrystal Group?
Working for General Stanley McChrystal, learning from his leadership, service, and life experiences, and then being on the team that worked towards translating his transformational concepts (Team of Teams) to organizations was such a great growth opportunity for me.
What has been your proudest moment at McChrystal Group
I have enjoyed working here, seeing Team of Teams in action daily, and learning about my value and role on that team. The opportunity to convert a speech to a contracted client is one of the many ways to do that.
What is a hidden talent of yours?
I lead my family in whiteboard goal sessions! I have a whiteboard on wheels in my front hall, and on many Sundays, I bring it out at our family meetings to plot out the next month, six months, and a year. They don't love it, but it is a hidden talent!
