Meet Mia
Mia Mulrennan, PsyD, is a Senior Advisor at McChrystal Group and a global CHRO, CXO, and organizational psychologist who brings insightful, systems-level thinking, a global perspective, and deep operations experience to align culture with corporate strategy both as a consultant and as an executive with companies including Star Restaurant Group, Sun Country Airlines and PDI/Korn Ferry. She is dynamic and influential, with strong facilitation skills and honors as an award-winning thought leader in company ethics, culture, and applied business psychology.
Mia is known as an approachable, highly analytical thinker and collaborative leader who navigates difficult situations in a calm, respectful way. She is experienced in a variety of customer-centric and service-oriented industries, including education, retail, hospitality, restaurants, and airlines. Mia is valuable to the board of a company looking at growth strategy from a talent and recruitment perspective with risk management, diversity and inclusion, ethics, and brand and public relations components.
As CEO and Principal Consultant for Rave-Worthy Consulting LLC, a consultancy she founded to advise companies on culture, hiring, employee satisfaction, and customer success, Mia advises clients including Fortune 500 retail and global hospitality companies. She is the creator of an award-winning assessment survey, based on more than 30 years of research with a norm group of 8,000+, for hiring, onboarding, and developing top talent to create a customer-centric and service-oriented organization.
In addition, as Chief Talent Officer (CHRO) for Washington, D.C. and Maryland-based Star Restaurant Group, Mia creates and delivers strategic initiatives for this restaurant group with five locations. She established employment branding and talent acquisition systems, which have reduced turnover by an average of 57% per unit/store. She created and leads leadership development forums to increase personal development, company communication, and feedback opportunities and is a valued coach to the executive team.
While she was Chief Talent Officer (CHRO) for $50 million online learning provider Edmentum, Mia helped achieve the top recruitment and retention numbers. And as CHRO for Sun Country Airlines, she was trained in Crisis Management by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and chosen to be second in line to the CEO to respond to public relations issues as needed in the event of an airline incident, accident, or other event.
Earlier, as a Senior Consultant for $1.02 billion global consulting firm PDI/Korn Ferry (NYSE: KFY), Mia managed some of the top-grossing clients for the company, working with customer-focused businesses that relied on customer strategies, including banks, retail establishments, and restaurants.
Mia leverages 32 years of research and regularly speaks on the psychology of company culture and consumer psychology and leads presentations on her book "Passed Over and Pissed Off,” the only publication about Gen X leaders. She received the Georgetown University Teaching Excellence Award in 2016 as the leadership and ethics graduate-level founding professor in their Masters of Global Hospitality Leadership Program, where she served as an Advisory Board member for the program until 2019.
Mia earned a Doctor of Applied Psychology (Psy.D.) from the Minnesota School of Professional Psychology, and a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from the University of Minnesota. She is fully credentialed in more than 40 assessment instruments, including the Myers-Briggs Typology Inventory, California Personality Inventory, Hogan Leadership Forecast Series, Strengthsfinder (Gallup Certified) and others. She is President of the HR Executive Forum Twin Cities and is a former Governing Body Member of the Minneapolis CHROs.
